The Optimizer & The Skeptic
NUMELLO WAS BORN FROM AN ARGUMENT BETWEEN TWO BROTHERS LIVING TWO VERY DIFFERENT LIVES.
The Optimizer (that's me, the founder): I'm a finance guy who lives by the numbers. I went from being the chicken/broccoli rice guy to the Ninja Creami guy. I tracked my macros in Excel because MyFitnessPal wasn't detailed enough. I've spent years chasing healthy versions of the treats I actually want — and coming up just short, every single time.
The Skeptic & the Guinea Pig (my brother, the co-founder): He's a tech guy in New York who wants nothing to do with my health experiments. His favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake. He has rejected every single protein snack I've ever put in front of him — no hesitation, no apology. If it had that weird whey aftertaste, it was already in the trash. He was the perfect taste-tester, because getting past him meant it was actually good.
Our Aha! Moment
On a trip to Korea, I saw 1L protein shake pouches with actual crunchy toppings. Convenient, mess-free, and — most importantly — delicious. I brought some back, handed them to my brother and cousins, and waited.
The verdict: "Best tasting protein ever."
